Frequently asked questions

Choosing a panel

What's the difference between the Ultra Pro 200 and the Ultra Mini 100?

Both panels have the same nine wavelengths, the same controls and built-in programs, and the same 20-month warranty. The Pro 200 has 144 dual-chip LEDs and covers a larger area, such as your back, torso or both legs, in one session. The Mini 100 has 72 dual-chip LEDs and is compact and portable, so it suits the face, neck, hands or one area at a time.

There's no wrong choice. It comes down to how much area you want to cover and where you'll use it. Compare the panels side by side.

What wavelengths do the panels use?

480 nm (blue), 590 nm (amber), 630, 660 and 670 nm (red), 810, 830 and 850 nm (near-infrared) and 1060 nm (infrared). You can switch each one on or off and dim it from 1 to 100%.

What does irradiance mean, and how is yours measured?

Irradiance is how much light energy reaches your skin, measured in mW/cm². We quote ours at a measured distance of 15 cm: at least 160 mW/cm² for the Pro 200 and at least 150 mW/cm² for the Mini 100. Without a distance, an irradiance figure can't be compared, so we always include it.

Do I need the floor stand?

The wheeled floor stand is an optional add-on for the Pro 200 (+$110). It holds the panel upright at a good height and makes it easy to move between rooms. It ships in a separate box and needs only minimal setup. The floor stand isn't available for the Mini 100.

Why do your panels cost less than others with the same technology?

Because we put your money into the technology, not the marketing. We don't pay influencers or run sponsored campaigns, your panel arrives in protective manufacturer packaging rather than a costly presentation box, and we don't add huge markups.

Our HIFU specialist clinics have been established since 2019, so we don't need to inflate prices to build a brand. We sell direct, at an honest price.

Are the panels included on the ARTG?

Yes. Both panels are included in the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG 452667) as Class IIa medical devices. They're also manufactured and tested to medical electrical equipment standards, including ISO 13485 and IEC 60601.

Will red light therapy actually help my skin?

Red and near-infrared light is one of the most widely researched light-based treatments in skincare, with many peer-reviewed studies looking at its effects on skin tone, texture and collagen. You can read some of the key studies in the research section on our homepage.

Like any skin treatment, results vary from person to person and depend on using it consistently. As skin specialists, we use red light ourselves as part of our routine.

Should I choose the Ultra Laser Red Light Mask or a panel?

If you only want to use red light on your face, the Ultra Laser Red Light Mask is a great option. It's hands-free and shaped to the face, so it's easy to use as part of your routine.

If you also want to use red light on your body, such as your back, shoulders, knees or legs, that's where a panel comes in. Personally, we use the mask for our face and the panels for everywhere else. Compare the panels and the mask side by side.

I already have the mask. Does a panel make it obsolete?

No. They're designed to work together, not replace each other. The mask is made for the face: hands-free, close to the skin and powered by VCSEL laser diodes. The panels use dual-chip LEDs across nine wavelengths and cover much more of the body.

Keep using your mask for your face, and use a panel for everything else.

How soon will I see results?

Many people notice a healthy glow and brighter-looking skin within their first few sessions. Changes in fine lines, firmness and tone build over several weeks of consistent use.

For aches and pains, many people feel relief from their very first session. Results vary from person to person, and consistency matters more than session length.

Using your panel

How long and how often should I use it?

We recommend up to 15 minutes per area, 3 to 5 times a week. If you're new to red light, start with shorter sessions and build up. Your user manual has full guidance for each built-in program.

Can I use it every day?

We don't recommend using it on the same area more than 5 times a week. More isn't better with red light: giving each area rest days avoids overstimulating it. You can still use it daily if you rotate between different areas.

Is it better in the morning or at night?

Whenever suits you best. Consistency matters more than timing. Many people like an evening session as part of winding down before bed.

How far away should I be?

Our irradiance figures are measured at 15 cm. Most people sit between 15 and 30 cm from the panel. Closer means more intense light; further away covers a wider area at a lower intensity.

Should I use pulsed or continuous mode?

Both are available on every wavelength. You can run the panel continuously or pulse it anywhere from 1 to 10,000 Hz. The built-in programs set this for you, or you can set your own.

Should I apply skincare before a session?

Start with clean skin. Avoid having active skincare on during a session, such as vitamin C, retinoids or exfoliating acids. Gentle, non-active products are fine. Apply your usual skincare afterwards.

Can I use it after HIFU, injectables, laser or a peel?

In most cases, yes, you can use it straight away. Always follow your practitioner's advice, though. Because red light helps calm inflammation, some practitioners prefer you to wait 48 hours after certain treatments.

Does it give off UV or tan my skin?

No. Our panels' wavelengths run from 480 to 1060 nm, which is visible and infrared light. They emit no UV, so they won't tan or burn your skin.

Do I need eye protection?

Yes. Protective glasses come with every panel. Wear them during sessions and don't look directly into the LEDs, especially when the near-infrared channels are on, because near-infrared light is hard to see.

Will it feel hot?

You'll feel gentle warmth from the near-infrared wavelengths, but the panel shouldn't feel hot on your skin. If anything feels uncomfortable, move further back or shorten your session.

Are the panels noisy?

No. They have quiet cooling fans that keep the LEDs at the right temperature. Most people find the soft hum quite relaxing.

Is red light therapy right for me?

Speak to your doctor before using the panel if you're pregnant, have epilepsy or are sensitive to flashing light (pulsed mode flashes), have a light-sensitive condition, have or have had skin cancer, or take medication that makes you sensitive to light.

If you have questions about using it over tattoos or fake tan, or about use by children, please check with your doctor first. Children should only use the panel with an adult's supervision. Always read the user manual before your first session.

Can I use it on my pet?

Yes. Both panels include a Pets program. Many owners use it for older pets and for recovery after an injury. We suggest 5 to 10 minutes, 3 to 5 times a week, with your pet 15 to 30 cm (6 to 12 inches) from the panel. If your pet has a medical condition, check with your vet first.

Setup and care

Can I hang the panel on a wall or door?

The Pro 200 can be hung on a wall or a door, and the hanging hardware is included. It can also stand on the optional wheeled floor stand. The Mini 100 can't be hung on a wall or door.

Can I link two panels together?

No. Each panel runs on its own controls. If you have two panels, you can set them up side by side and run the same program on both.

How long do the LEDs last?

With the right care, your panel will last for years. Keep it dry, dust-free and well ventilated, and don't cover the fans during a session. Every panel is also covered by our 20-month warranty.

Orders and delivery

Where do you ship from?

Every order ships from our clinic in Mile End, Adelaide. We deliver Australia-wide. We don't currently ship internationally.

How much is delivery?

Delivery is a flat rate based on your state and how many panels you order. Orders of three or more panels ship free. See all delivery rates.

Can I pick up my order?

Yes. You can collect from our clinic at 2/199 Henley Beach Road, Mile End. Choose pickup at checkout and our team will contact you to book a time after your order is confirmed. In-stock orders are usually ready within 48 hours.

Do you deliver to PO boxes?

No. Because of the size of the panels, we can't deliver to PO boxes or parcel lockers. Please use a street address.

Why isn't there free shipping on one panel?

Because we don't inflate our prices to cover shipping. Many brands build shipping into the price of each panel so they can advertise "free shipping".

Instead, we charge you a fraction of what Australia Post charges us and absorb the rest ourselves, which keeps our panel prices low. Order three or more panels and delivery is free.

What does pre-order mean?

When a panel shows "Pre-order", it's out of stock but you can still order it. Pre-orders are dispatched within 4 weeks, and we'll keep you updated by email.

Do you offer Afterpay?

Yes. You can choose Afterpay at checkout to pay in four instalments.

Does the floor stand ship with the panel?

The floor stand ships separately in its own box. It may arrive on a different day to your panel.

Warranty and returns

What warranty do I get?

Every panel comes with a 20-month warranty against manufacturing defects. Read the full warranty.

Can I return a panel if I change my mind?

We don't offer change-of-mind returns, so please choose carefully. If you're unsure which panel suits you, contact us before you order and we'll help. If your panel is faulty, you're fully covered by our warranty and the Australian Consumer Law. Read our returns policy.

My panel arrived damaged. What should I do?

Contact us as soon as possible at support@ultraclinicsaustralia.com with your order number and photos of the damage and packaging. We'll arrange a repair or replacement at no cost to you.
